Karra Yerta Wines - Eden Valley Riesling 05

Given a mark of 94+ points by Philip White on January 27th, 2007.
Hand-picked from 75-80 year old dry-grown vines, this wine is a typical Eden Valley Riesling: light lemon\lime in colour and displaying the steely acid and delicate citrus\floral notes that will further develop with age. This Riesling is drinking superbly now and on a warm day, is supremely refreshing! With just the right amount of dryness, it leaves a nice tingle on your tongue and is the perfect wine to have at a barbeque on the beach with a freshly caught snapper or whiting.

If you prefer the "kerosene" flavour that develops in an aged Riesling, it will cellar well. Much longer term aging, (10 - 20 years) often makes these Rieslings have flavours of honey, toast and spice. The winemaker was Tim Smith of Rocland Estate Wines who was contracted to make it to our specifications. Tim now makes wines under his own name/label.

Awarded 4.5/5 by James Halliday in his Australian Wine Companion 2008
